NextArts Presents: The Inauguration of the 44th President of the United
States of America - Simulcast

CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT (The Sock It To Me Concert)

Where: Civic Center, San Francisco
When: January 20, 2009 7:00AM-12Noon

On January 20, 2008, NextArts will present a large screen video presentation of President-elect Barack Obama's historic inauguration before San Francisco's City Hall at Civic Center Plaza. The Plaza will open at 6:00AM to accommodate seating.

This is a "Sock It To Me Concert"TM. NextArts will collect socks and underwear (new, tag still attached) for the homeless instead of charging admission. While we had no way of predicting it, this is why we started the Sock It To Me Concerts so many years ago. NextArts has always believed "We are our brother's and sister's keeper."

The San Francisco inaugural simulcast will occur outdoors rain or shine, just as in Washington, D.C. We call on all municipalities within our great nation to present this event at their place of governance. And, for all to join together in community, derived from Latin "with-unity."

About NextArts:
NextArts produces concerts in public spaces throughout San Francisco. We are a social enterprise that provides special event production services as a means to raise funds to support our concert series. In 2005, we began asking attendees to bring (new) unused items, with tag still attached for collection and redistribution to worthy charities instead of charging admission. So far we have collected over 3,200 pairs of new socks and underwear and over 2,400 units of school supplies at our concerts. All new, all with tags still attached.
